
The Ogun State Police Command has charged Ayodele Falomo, 56, and his 23-year-old son, Ayoola, with assaulting a physician over the loss of a family member.Information Guide Nigeria
The two were charged with assaulting Dr. Pelumi Somorin, an employee of the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The two accused allegedly slapped the doctor shortly after their female relative’s heart failure-related death was pronounced. The accused were charged with two counts of conspiracy and assault.

Inspector Olaide Rawlings, the prosecution’s counsel, informed the court that the defendants committed the crimes on December 20 at the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants, the deceased’s spouse, and son, assaulted Somorin while accusing her of causing the death of a family member.NYSC portal
She claimed the offense violated sections 516 and 355 of the Ogun State Criminal Laws of 2006.
Both the father and son were adamant that the doctor killed their family member due to incompetence.
They were angered by the doctor’s claimed nonchallenge, noting that she was touching her phone while the deceased moaned in pain.
Ayoola also confirmed his father’s claim, saying he threatened to photograph the doctor and post it on the Internet.
He claims she dragged the phone behind him to prevent him from photographing her.
Meanwhile, at the court hearing, Magistrate I.O. Abudu provided the parties an opportunity to address the matter peacefully.JAMB portal
The defendants, on the other hand, notified the court that they had sent an apologetic letter to the hospital’s management, the police, and the state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association.
While mediating the case, Magistrate Abudu stated that the apology letter demonstrated that the defendants were sorry.
Abudu then admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 apiece, with one surety in the same sum.JAMB Result
